This page is about Books Point Bookstore. It is about our story and a journey that began with a few books in the year 2011. Well, it has been an adventure selling books to hundreds of clients and eventually deciding to make this our future business.
Books Point Bookstore traces its roots back to February 2011, when I received a small collection of books from a Canadian friend I used to sell movies to at my shop in Ruaka, Kenya. With a few handmade shelves and a growing curiosity for bookselling, I began displaying and selling them. Soon after, more books came from Irene, and later shipments arrived from the United States through a relative.
Despite the passion, advertising challenges made it hard to sustain the business, and by 2014, the first chapter closed. In mid-2015, a friend visited the shop, saw the books, and proposed a partnership. Together we imported new stock and began selling books in Nairobi’s CBD, at Aga Khan Walk, opposite Uchumi House. The streets became our bookstore, and for a time, things looked promising until 2016, when sales dropped, and the venture again paused.
A small shop in Ruaka followed, then another, but visibility issues persisted. By 2017, the books were cleared, and the dream was temporarily shelved. Still, the love for books never faded. In 2017, I launched Abookidea, an Amazon affiliate store that later evolved into a Kenyan book platform. While that too faced challenges, the vision only grew stronger.
In 2021, I re-entered the physical books space with a new brand known as Booknized – operating both a shop and a website. The timing, however, clashed with election-year slowdowns, and by early 2023, the shop was closed. Yet again, the story didn’t end there. By October 2025, Books Point Bookstore was born – a fresh chapter built on over a decade of experience, setbacks, and resilience.
Books Point isn’t just another bookstore. It’s the culmination of years of passion for connecting readers with stories — whether through used fiction, non-fiction, book lists, summaries, or digital PLR titles that inspire lifelong learning.
